Kubby Charity Events

Kubby Day Nursery and After School Club have decided to take a new approach to its charity fundraising activity. Having consulted with the parents in Kubby Day Nursery and After School Club, we have decided to nominate a charity which we will actively support for the year.

We are delighted to inform you that this year, we will be supporting the Haematology Unit at The Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children. Too often, we hear of how children from the local area are being affected by serious illnesses and how the hospital requires ongoing donations to continue its sterling work.

Our fundraising plans for this year will include involving the whole community and in particular, our local schools. As I am sure you are aware there are 10 schools in the Upper Ards Area (Ballywalter to Portaferry) and we hope to involve all of them in our fundraising activities.

We propose to hold our first charity extravaganza event on Saturday 29^th September at McKenna Community Centre. This event will be a football match with a difference – a football challenge played in your wellies!

We are delighted to say that it was very enjoyable and successful day. Congratulations to St Mary's Primary School Kircubbin on winning the Kubby Shield.

Thanks must also go to everyone who attended the event and we are happy to say we raised a total of £1733.35.

Thanks to all the very brave parents who came out and supported us for Children in Need on the 17th November. It was a very cold blowy day at the football pitch but the wellies did keep our feet warm. How many of you seen yourselves on TV. Didn't I look well as always. :-) Thank you to all our sponsors, Mid Ards Computer Services, Blaney Chemists, Ulster Bank, Carnlea Construction & Shop For You.

Kubby entered a RELAY TEAM into the 2006 Belfast City Marathon on Monday 1st May to raise Money for NIMBA. We all returned in 4 hours 22 mins. Total raised was £820. Go to Kubby Cool for more pictures of the team and event.

A BIG THANK YOU to all who supported our fundraising efforts for Children in Need on the 18th November 2005. Total raised was a STAGGERING £1752 and Kubby presented a cheque to Children in Need at the BBC.
